About Us

Big Bloomers started as a passion for growing and giving flowers. As a young girl I use to pick my grandmothers flowers and present her with a bunch of daffodils, freesias, anything that grew in her garden. Since my children were toddlers we have always had flowers and veggie gardens. Growing flowers and food is great for the soul, especially when you can share it.

Now my grandchildren walk the gardens with basket and scissors in hand learning about colour, growing and looking after food and flowers.

Our cut flowers are mostly perennials with a few annuals, and lots of fresh herbs.

On the farm (58 acres) we run pure bred Angus beef, cute piglets, Fallow Deer, rescue free range chickens, most animals can be petted and hand fed. We are working on regenerating an 8 acre native forest and waterway.

Sustainability is our goal, we are moving toward becoming organic with creating seaweed and organic fertilizers. We give away flowers and produce to hospice and community organisations and sell at the local markets.

We believe it is important to eat your own food, then you know what sprays you are eating - hopefully none!! We believe it is important for people to be self sufficient, you can do it no matter how small your section or home is.

We hold workshops in flower arranging and propagation during spring summer and autumn from 9-12 and 1 - 3pm, and bush and farm walks. Bring a group of friends, a hens party, elderly escapees and educational groups welcome. Bookings are essential. Minimum numbers 6, maximum numbers 35.

Our location 288 Oropi Gorge Rd Tauranga. Here are our hard working staff taking a break.
